LP, fret not! there's ALWAYS gonna be people who r gonna 'misunderstand'...

u r right, Virg's feet r great, but i'm tellin u his hands r evn better. He's just taken the feet to a higher level than most [if not all] b4 him...even DW & VC have said that his DB ability is way better'n theirs...but his concepts & mastery of meter r what really put him as a contender at the VC/DW level - the drummer's 'Olympiad' [i only say it this way because V & D were more "well-known" here in the States b4 V - u guys know what i mean]...

u r right when u say that drum'g is becom'g a 'sport' - but i tell u, i don't think there's anyth'g wrong w that - UNLESS it gets in the way of being musical, which is where many a 'young' [& some old!] guys get caught up in that mentality of it, awa image, how 'fast' some1 is...but even the fastest guys, if they didn't do it w great timing, would sound like complete crap - it's the mastery of the pocket & proper musical phrasing that makes them great in drum'g/music...

Anyway, we ALL know that these forums r mostly comprised of guys who dig Vinnie, Dave, Virgil, Dennis, Novak, Smith etc etc - so that's expected [img]wink.gif[/img] - [we all know who the best & baddest r!!] - so we end up comparing to our yardstick[s]...this forum still stands as 1 of if not the best i've come across [Audiophile's Ikonboard is another good 1 AW]...

Steve H's whole site is dedicated to VC & DW, w honorable mentions to VD, DC, GN, SS, JH, etc etc, AWA himself, naturally - any1 who we all know is tops in the drum'g field...

ANYWAY, back to the ORIG TOPIC - i can't wait 4 this dvd to come out in the proper regional format 4 the USA...glad that u were able to get it...i'm gettin anxious...u did a nice write-up on it...i have the Mod Drum Fest '98 Sat & Sun [DW/JoJo/Bayers; & WillK/RodM/JeffHam] - theyre killer [xcept 4 DW's hairstyle at the time!! [img]wink.gif[/img] - i'm sure he looks back at it now & says "oh, geez..."]

When I saw the debate brewing again I came close to closing this topic. Then I figured if you guys cant have a debate about that here, then WHERE can you? This is kinda the place for that , it's just getting old I guess.
There's stuff that (insert amazing drummer here) can do that (insert amazing drummer here) can't.
Leave it at that.
